BOARD BREAKING
We recommend you buy #2 White Pine (Ponderosa) for breaking.
This is the type most commonly used.
Buy (1) 6 foot piece (1' x 12"), and cut it into 9"
pieces, this will give you 8 individual pieces.
Or cut into 6" pieces (for 6 year olds and under) and
this will give you 12 pieces.
www.plymouthpine.com is an affordable site to purchase boards
from.
Try to select a dry piece of wood that does not have a heavy
pine smell.
Strong scented wood means it is not dry, thus the board will
be flexible and not brittle.
Some ways to achieve a dry board is by storing the wood somewhere dry, like next to an oil burning furnance or baseboard heaters.
On a hot summer day leave the board on the blacktop for a day.
Bring one extra piece of wood with you on the day of your test in addition to the pieces you plan to break.
If you are not sure what size wood to buy for your child
please ask Master White
Good Luck!!!
